The Georgian Security Analysis Center (GSAC) was founded at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies to foster discussion and understanding of Georgian security issues among opinion makers in NATO countries.  After a period of organization and staff training, GSAC began operation on September 19, 2006.

Recognizing that opinion makers—journalists, think tanks, academics, parliamentary staffs—play a vibrant role in NATO democracies, GSAC aims to promote discussion among them and to provide timely, accurate information.

Terrorist World Cup

The first half of the World Cup final game was drawing to a close when that universal cry of combined disappointment and relief arose from restaurants and bars around the world. Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas had made a spectacular save.

Satellite Saga

The Paris Court of Commerce last week handed a victory to the Russian propaganda machine, allowing French satellite operator Eutelsat—one quarter French Government-owned—to bar Tbilisi-based First Caucasus Television from one of its broadcast satellites. For now, this prevents First Caucasus from reaching most of its intended Russian-speaking audience.

Central Asia: “Reset” Won’t Fix It!
David J. Smith. Published in TABULA (Weekly magazine). June 28 - July 4, 2010. Last April 7, the world was too busy to notice Russian fingerprints on the coup that toppled Kyrgyzstani President Kurmanbek Bakiyev. Within weeks, ethnic Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks were at each other’s throats.
